I hope that this season is good to you and as stress-free as possible.  I'm pretty busy myself but wanted to wish you all well!  Working on finishing up some holiday pages for Undead Norm.

Crisp Comics Needs Nominations for Best Indie Comics of 2012!
I started contributing to the Crisp Comics website.  It's a news website that focuses on the independent comic scene.  They are currently asking for nominations for their 2012 comic awards so please go and tell us what your favorites are for each category!  We want to know what comics you love!

Can't believe it's already November.  Some of you probably have noticed that I haven't been posting much art here lately.  My webcomic Undead Norm is still going strong with =MichaelLinkJr as a guest art for now.  The story is written by me while he is doing all of the artwork and the lettering.  It's been a fun run so far and we still have four more updates to go.  He has posted some of the colored pages on his account.  Go to [link] to read the story.

I've been busy working on finishing a colorist job for a comic and working on some scripts.  Hopefully I'll have some more artwork to show you soon.  Thank you for reading!
  • Mood: Optimism
I've been pretty busy with Undead Norm, preparing for Cola-Con and coloring Disco Frankenstein so I haven't been posting much journal wise.  I've tried to keep up with posting my art at least.  I've got some news articles that mention Undead Norm in it and some convention news.

Charleston City Paper
They interviewed Melanie Florencio to talk about her work on Undead Norm.  I'm in the picture with her but the article focuses on her contribution to the comic.
Read the article here: [link]

Columbia's Free Times
They ran an article about Cola-Con which is a hip hop and comic convention that is happening this Friday and Saturday!  Melanie and I will be a part of two panels during this event: Ladies First: The Lives and Times of Creative Women and Web Comics: Comics Success in the Digital Age.  They include a full list of the panels in the article.  We're very flattered to be invited to participate in the panels and the event itself.  There's a lot of really talented people that are going to be at the convention including Sanford Greene, Talib Kweli, 803 Stuidos, LeSean Thomas, and Nikia Phoenix.
Read the article here: [link]
Cola-Con's website: [link]

Summerville Patch
The Patch ran a quick write-up about Melanie and me going to Cola-Con this weekend!
Read the article here: [link]

We're really grateful for all of the newspapers for mentioning us no matter how big or small it was.  It's just awesome to have someone appreciate our hard work.

Cola-Con
October 5-6
Columbia Museum of Art
Columbia, SC

Melanie and I have been pretty busy preparing for the convention.  We will have issue 1 of Undead Norm, stickers, buttons, a new print, sketchcards, and sketches available for purchase.  If you are in the area, please come by our table and attend our panels!

Much Love,

Happy New Year Everyone!  I hope that the holidays were good to all of you.  My family and I had a great but busy one.

2011 was great to me.  I finally got my butt in gear and worked on my artwork and writing.  Since March I have been posting at least one image here a month which is definitely an improvement from my previous record.  I have met a lot of talented people on here as well on Facebook.

The two top favorited pieces that I submitted last year are ones that I colored for =MichaelLinkJr with the Batgirls as the top one.

I'm really not sure which picture is my favorite.  I seem to improve with each picture and all of them were made with a lot of love.

Upcoming in 2012
With just a few days into January I find myself busy with color work for my upcoming webcomic Undead Norm and my print debut in the collection called Indie Attack which will be available from Phoenix Fire Entertainment.  Undead Norm starts Monday so I will probably be quiet until then.  I will post more about the Indie Attack stuff later since I have a lot of work to do so they can print it this month.  I will be announcing another comic project soon but first I got to get these done.  I just hope that 2012 is full of lots of comic work for me.

As for other stuff, I still owe some people some artwork and I want to color some pieces made by ~eyeofamon and =MichaelLinkJr soon.  Not sure when exactly but I will post them when I can.  Take care!

Yay, I got over 4,000 pageviews on here!  Thank you to everyone who has visited my little corner of dA!  I appreciate all the feedback that I have received over the years.  This past year has been the most active that I have ever been on here and I have learned a lot.  I just wanted to let everyone know that I am thankful for all the support!

I haven't posted much lately but I have been working on my artwork a little bit every day.  I am happy to say that I am improving and I hope to have more to show you soon!  There are a few things that I can't submit yet but I will when I can.  :)

Phoenix Fire Entertainment's The Agency Coloring Contest
I have a picture in a coloring contest on Facebook so feel free to check it out.  The voting for the contest ends this Friday and you should check it out.  If you think mine is the best, please vote for me.  The other two artists did a great job on their pictures so check out their work too.  I think that it was very helpful for me as an artist to see how the other two colored the picture.  To vote, you have to "like" the Phoenix Fire Entertainment's page and then "like" the picture that you want to give your vote.

Can't Believe It

Wed Jul 13, 2011, 6:55 AM
Last Sunday we celebrated James' first birthday!  It was bittersweet but mostly sweet.  I am trying to enjoy holding my baby as long as I can because he's getting so big so quickly.  he'll always be my baby.

I don't know why I opened up requests during my vacation and birthday party planning time but I have been working on them as well as some other projects that I don't have listed.  One I probably won't get to post until a much later date.  You can still sign up for a request here: [link]

HeroesCon!

Tue Jun 7, 2011, 5:59 AM
Photobucket

My husband, son, and I went to our first comic book convention ever this past weekend.  HeroesCon was a blast and we can't wait to go again next year!  Everyone was so nice and we got to meet some of our favorite creators and lots of cool people.  It was fun being able to talk to everyone even though I was incredibly shy and goofy most of the weekend.  My hubby Scott was telling me that I need to get over it (and he did say it in the nicest way possible) and I did get a little bit better throughout the weekend then the last day I was really goofy in front of *AdamHughes and almost missed out on him drawing in my book because I thought that he was done with sketches so I walked away.  *slaps forehead*  I don't think that I embarrassed myself too much.

I had the pleasure of sitting in on a couple of panels that were very educational to me.  It was amazing watching the artists draw and give tips and share knowledge that they have about drawing.  I was amazed to see the speed and quality that they could do but I am sure that will their amount of experience that they have under their belts does help with that.  Hearing Adam Hughes saying that he doesn't like his stuff and that any illustration from which he leaves something is a successful drawing made me feel better about my own work.  I may not be up to his caliber of skill but it helps me think about how I am learning and improving as I go along.  Overall I left the show inspired, with a lot of great artwork, and my wallet a little bit lighter.  Some of the artists that I got to see included Frank Cho, *mikemaihack, *skottieyoung, and Steve Epting.  A few of the writers that we got to meet were Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Jonathan Hickman, and Chris Roberson.

I wanted to make a list so everyone especially myself can see what all I am wanting to make.  For the most part it is all to practice and build up my portfolio.  I won't have it listed here but I will open up some requests and trades along the way.  I will update the journal when I do.  I don't know if or when I'll get all of this done but I am going to do my best to get it done.  This list will be updated and linked to my future journal entries so you can keep up with it there if you want.

May is always a busy month for me since most of my family is born in this month.  Despite of all that I am glad that I have made some time to work on my art.  As you can see in my gallery, I have finished colored the last two pictures and I have to saw that I am pretty happy with them.  I'm going to be looking through some tutorials and asking some people how they do their coloring.  ~misi has been nice enough to give me a few pointers.  If you know of any good tutorials or what to offer some personal advice, please do!  You can leave it here as a comment or note me.  I appreciate any and all help!

Now for the plushies!
I wanted to share some really cute plushies that I commissioned my friend ~xBergen aka ~xMoshyMCCOY to make for me and my friends.
